Ravens,

Welcome to the 2020-21 School Year!

We are so excited to begin our work together next week through Distance Learning 2.0! Our teachers have been doing some AMAZING work this week developing projects and learning experiences for you! We wanted to review some important information with you so that we are all set to get started. “See” you at 10:00 on Tuesday! (Log in to your 2nd period Canvas page prior to class. Instructions for class and Zoom links will be there. It would be a good idea to log in a little early to make sure we are set to hit the ground running)

The complete bell schedule for Tuesday and the rest of the week is linked here:

We can’t wait to see you and get the year started!

Please remember that masks are required when visiting any VPS building in person.

Social distancing visuals will be placed in appropriate areas to designate a six (6) foot radius and traffic patterns. Acrylic Plexiglas shields are installed in all front offices for additional safety.

The district has compiled a family handbook, please review for guidance:

  • Student Schedules are now available in Skyward
  • Student Attendance Requirements

Students will participate in learning activities daily. The best way to access their learning is to sign in to their Canvas class at the scheduled time slot and participate in the lesson and Zoom.

We understand that there will be times that students will not be able to be “in class”. In this case students can also access their learning and be counted for attendance the following ways:

  • The student has logged into Canvas, accessible through ClassLink
  • The student has interacted with the teacher (e.g., via Zoom, text messages, emails, phone calls)
  • The student has participated in a task or assignment.

Parents are expected to contact the school to excuse an absence by calling the school attendance line at 360-313-5213, entering the absence in Family Access or sending an email to your child’s school, itech.attendance@vansd.org. Parents and students can monitor attendance in Family Access (Skyward).

  • C-TRAN YOP passes are now available in the school office! The 2019-20 passes expire on September 1st. You will need to complete a new Parent Consent Form (attached) before receiving your new pass. Due to delayed school picture ID’s, passes will be placed on a special plastic card this year. Students still need to carry either last year’s ID card or a Washington State ID card for proof of age, in case they are asked.
  • Responsible User Policy (RUP) If you haven’t provided the school with a current RUP, please complete the form electronically through Skyward Family Access. Paper copies are also accepted at the school.
