iTech community,

The students, Cyndy Hagin, John Zingale, and I would like to cordially invite you to celebrate their hard work and their creation of the Fort Vancouver Virtual Reality Museum, or FVvr (pronounced FEVER), and their mobile FVvr apps. Over the course of the last couple of months our iTech Washington State History and Computer Science students have been studying Fort Vancouver. They have been working with the National Parks Service to answer the question “How can we share our nationally significant history with our community and the world in the digital age?” They have learned to think archaeologically, how to conduct photogrammetry, and how to develop content for a client.

The culmination of their hard work, is the creation of a virtual reality museum that adds onto the work of our students from two years ago, along with many different mobile apps that will transport audiences around the world to Vancouver Washington, so that they can interact with the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. I hope that you can join us on Saturday, May 12th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Historic Hangar at the Pearson Museum, to celebrate the amazing work that our students have done. Afterwards, you can visit the National Historic Site with your child as they guide you around the place that would become our wonderful city.
