Along with events such as the Youth Employment Summit, Mock Interviews, Speed Networking, Mentor Events, and Guest Speakers, Partners in Careers is also coordinating tours during Spring Break to allow local youth the opportunity of seeing firsthand the diversity of careers available in our area. This tour’s information has been sent to your Career Center already, but I wanted to reach out directly to the educators in our area focusing on Engineering, Architecture, Construction, and Woods specifically with information on the tour of LSW Architects. My hope is that your students might be the most interested in this tour.

April 2nd, 10:30am to 1:30pm – Led by architect Kyle Rogers, who also leads LSW’s Design CoMission, students will tour LSW’s headquarters to learn about the work environment, the specialties within architecture, what a day in the life of an architect looks like, and what students can do now to pursue this career path including Design CoMission. Students will then tour Block 8, a seven-story mixed-use development in Vancouver’s new waterfront. Block 8 will include retail space, apartment space, underground parking, and a 3rd level outdoor courtyard. Here students will learn about the various trades that are required to build such a complex facility. Students will have the opportunity to meet with and hear from professionals in various trades, learning about which trades are responsible for completing different portions of the job and how they all work together while having separate and distinct responsibilities.

This tour is limited to the first 20 students who confirm their registration. To register, please have students complete this form.

All students should plan on arriving at Partners in careers by 10:30am for a quick snack, a conversation about what to expect during the tour, and then boarding the bus with staff. I have attached a flyer you can distribute for this tour as well, with a digital link to the form also listed above.

If you have any questions please feel free to let me know, otherwise we hope to see your students there!

Thank you,
