No fireworks on school grounds

Due to fire risk and the presence of construction material and equipment at some schools, fireworks will not be permitted on Vancouver Public Schools’ grounds and parking lots this summer. The public will not be allowed to access any school property to discharge or use fireworks. Increased security patrols will monitor activity.

“We are taking added precautions to help ensure safety at all of our school sites,” said Mick Hoffman, chief of operations. This is the third year that the district has prohibited fireworks on its properties.

Hudson’s Bay High School’s parking lot will be open on July 4 for those attending the celebration activities at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. However, setting off fireworks in the lot will be prohibited.
